SHORT BREAK 3 GUIDED
DESCRIPTION 3 DAYS CANOEING
3 DAYS CANOEING
5 DAYS 4 NIGHTS
Three days of canoeing in the forest on the trails of the American Indians offer true wilderness scenery. In the evening, when camping near the river, you may see a moose, a bear, hear wolves howl, or see the Northern Lights.
CHOICE OF ARRIVING, AFTER YOUR EVENING MEAL, obtainable in a village nearby; OR in the late afternoon and (1) enjoying the hiking trails and seeing our park of wolves, and, (2) with a reservation, DINING AT OUR BASE, where we offer a self service meal ($). Sleep in one of our chalets (the rooms are for two, three or four people, depending on availability and the nature of the groups).
CANOEING ON THE OUASIEMSCA AND MISTASSINI RIVERS.
Canoeing down the river Ouasiemsca is another way to discover the boreal forest. During the descent we can approach the beaver huts and see their occupants. We have lunch, grilled over a wood fire beside the river. The Ouasiemsca River flows into the Mistassini River. We paddle up stream to the foot of the 11th waterfall, a magnificent waterfall that blocks the river. You will learn how to use your paddle (safely) in whitewater, as well as having the opportunity to hike near the falls, swim, or take a nap on the sandy beach! Followed by a short transfer back to the base in the late afternoon, for dining and staying overnight.
FIRST DAY OF OUR TWO DAY EXPEDITION
Canoeing for two days down the river Mistassini, or Ouasiemisca. At noon, we stop for a picnic grilled over a log fire on the banks of the river. Later in the afternoon, we erect the tents for camping on the river bank. Opportunity to go fishing for pike and trout, and /or swimming. Dinner prepared on log fire.
After breakfast, we continue the descent of the river. Return to dine and sleep at the base
